As promised for the contest/giveaway the winning colors are announced in this post:
The Winning Colors
Lavender and chartreuse. I would have accepted purple and green as the correct colors. No one guessed these two colors; it so happens that these are my favorite. I did notice some color combination guesses that I would not have thought of.
The contest may have been to hard or too complicated. There are no winners and I am disappointed; I still have prizes to giveaway now. I am looking forward to running the giveaway again. If you have some ideas about what the rules should be next time, please let me know.
Thank you to everyone that participated. There will be more contests and giveaways in the near future.
This drawing is an exercise I use to keep it moving when I am stuck. No matter how it turns out, I am usually very pleased. This exercise typically calls forth new inspiration for more drawings. Nothing hard, no perspective or likenesses or reflections or cast shadows.
It is very likely that there will be more of these going forward.
A Trip to Maryland
On a trip to Maryland to visit my Dad I was inspired to draw, so I started this exercise sketch. I didn’t want to waste any time figuring out a good subject and then take more time to capture reference pictures so I could finish.
The best way to make good use of drawing time is to scope out good subject matter in advance of your sketch outing. Then you can plan ahead the kinds of art supplies to bring with you.
Planned Sketch Outings
I know that there are some wonderful drawing spots in Atlanta that I need to discover. It would be great to meet with other artists to draw these optimal locations. Drawing on the tops of skyscrapers or on a top floor would be great. If I find a suitable spot, I will post the drawings that come from it.
