My new Epson V19 scanner is en route! There are new drawings to share, but I am waiting for the scanner to show up.
Scanner/Printer/Copier Sounded Like a Good Idea at the Time
It is expected late tomorrow and I am looking forward to it. The last time I had a scanner of my own was before 2012. It was a scanner/printer/copier all in one from Costco. I don’t think I will do that again.
It worked fine for a couple of years, but then the printer died. Although the scanner still worked fine, it had all these annoying alerts about the health of the printer which I knew had gone to printer heaven.
Owning a Printer vs. Print Services
Not sure I want to own a printer again.
- If you don’t print for several months, the ink dries inside of it and ruins its ability to function.
- Did I mention that the ink is incredibly expensive?
- The ink levels read as needing replacement before the cartridges are empty (probably to avoid the first problem).
- Most printers are limited to a couple of size prints. If the prints I need are bigger than 11×17, I would need to find a print-maker anyway.
It might be more cost effective to outsource having prints made. I’m going to avoid purchasing a printer for now. When I get so I need to print on an almost daily basis, I know I will have entered a new phase of the business. Looking forward to that too.
It is possible that it has been so many years since I’ve owned a printer, that these problems have all been resolved by the manufacturers. If anyone knows this to be true, please let me know.
The Epson V19 is a flatbed scanner and that is all. I am hoping I can get it out of the box and quickly figure out how to use it for a post on Tuesday with a new drawing.
Vintage Drawing Supply Depleted
I am almost completely out of vintage drawings to share. This is a portrait of my great grandmother, Pearl Brandon, done from a photo of her taken in 1967. Drawing done in 2006.
