ballpoint pens can be perfect for excellent handwriting

The best pens for writing and drawing will depend on the person. My favorite pen depends on whether I am writing or drawing.

When people ask what are the best pens for writing and drawing, the answer depends. What you want your handwriting or drawing to look like will correspond to a certain pen to help you get to that style.  The best pen will be different for each person and sometimes each situation.  The pen that is best for improving your handwriting or drawing is your favorite pen.  Whichever pen that is.

The Best Pen for Writing and Drawing is a Personal Search

To find out which pen is best for you will involve a lot of experimenting.  Try different pens before you buy at the display centers in office and art supply stores.  Discovering the pen that makes your heart sing will be the key to your best handwriting and drawing.  Practice can’t be avoided.

There is already a twist to this seeking out of the perfect pen and that is each pen responds differently to various papers.  Some pens and papers hate each other.  You may not appreciate the way a certain pen bleeds on a certain paper, or how some ink will sit on top of the paper and take an hour to dry.

My Favorite Pen for Writing

My favorite pens for both writing and drawing are Uni-ball products.  The favorite pen for writing is the Uni-ball Jetstream.  It is an inexpensive, fairly easy to find, dependable writing instrument.  My love for them is so deep, that I bought a box of them and I have them sprinkled around everywhere so that I don’t let any thoughts get away before I can write it down.

Because it is something that can stop me from being productive, I take care to have a couple of these with me at all times.

Years Have Been Spent Searching to Find the Best Pen

Most of the time I am paralyzed and unable to write unless I have the right pen for the job.  If I find the pen I was thinking of but can’t remember what I wanted to write, I am vexed.  This could be a blessing that got away.

I believe that inspiration is sent from the Most High, and it is an honor to receive an idea for a “witty invention”.

For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it. I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions. – Proverbs 8:11-12

Review of the Uni-Ball Jetstream Pen:

The Uni-ball Jetstream is a ballpoint pen and the perfect tool for writing because:

  • It doesn’t bleed. It is suitable for thinner papers like the ones in the cheap lined journals that I prefer for my bullet journaling.
  • The continuously juicy line of extra blackness makes the smooth glide that I like.  Sometimes it spits out tiny specks of extra ink at random.  I don’t mind this; it is a symptom of the amount of ink needed for the .
  • Unlike gel pens the ink lasts for quite some time.
  • It is retractable (no cap that needs a home while writing).
  • There is a window to reveal the ink level. It is surprising how many pens don’t have this feature!

In a Pinch I Might Draw with My Favorite Writing Pen

Once in a great while I will do a drawing with a ballpoint pen, and sometimes it works well.  I have a few drawings in this medium that live on my Ballpoint Pens Pinterest board.   This board is a collection of ballpoint pen drawings by a variety of artists; some of them are unbelievably good.

My Uncle’s Afro drawing was created with a Uni-ball jetstream ballpoint too, but only because my favorite drawing pens were packed during a move.  I love them because of the:

  • extra smooth flow
  • retractable point (no cap that needs a home while writing)
  • intense black
  • window on the side to view the ink level

There is one other person I know that can’t write without a certain special pen.  If I don’t have the pen for the task at hand, my teeth itch.  It is a priority to find one at that moment.  Sometimes if this is impractical, I will write with a random pen on an envelope or scrap so I can be sure to write it more nicely later in my journal.

It is a Nervous Moment to Let Someone Borrow My Good Pen

It is practical to have a back-up pen or two in case of a need to write a phone number or let someone borrow one.  Even though they are cheap, I watch people that borrow my pen very closely.  This is petty.  I should be prepared to let a fabulous pen be released into the Universe.  More pens will come back right?

It is amazing to find people that have no pen preference.  The people that will write with whatever is handy will not appreciate the virtues of my favorite extra special pen.

Supplies Used to Make These Drawings:

These drawings were made with God given gifts of seeing things that others don’t

  • A gift of an intense love of colors, combinations of colors, and patterns.
  • A gift of hypersensitivity to sounds, textures and light levels.
  • A gift of seeing clearly slight differences in color and tone and also feeling vibrations and tones in others.
