Stay inspired with the following ideas for motivation.  Inspiration can be elusive and sporatic.

The key to unlocking inspiration is to be open to it. Inspiration can come from unexpected sources, so it’s important to keep an open mind and be willing to explore new ideas and experiences.

One way to tap into this internal source of inspiration is to practice mindfulness. Mindfulness is the practice of being present in the moment, and it can help us to quiet our minds and tune into our own thoughts and feelings. By paying attention to our own thoughts and emotions, we can gain insight into what inspires us.

Another way to tap into inspiration is to purposely surround ourselves with positive influences. This can include spending time with people who inspire us, reading books or watching movies that evoke strong emotions, or listening to music that moves us.

This value exercise is one of several that will usually come out beautifully each time.  When you are out of ideas, or keeping it moving until the next important piece, this will keep you sharp.

Fourteen Ways to Stay Inspired:

  1. Try the value scale exercise sketch in this post.  Find the directions HERE.
  2. Get a new sketchbook.
  3. Work on a different kind of artistic project than you usually do like knitting or collage.
  4. Keep a list of drawings you would like to create.
  5. Draw outside.
  6. Change media from whatever you always use.
  7. Organize your studio/workspace.
  8. Do daily drawing exercises that do not require a certain outcome (Don’t wait for inspiration! Draw anyway).
  9. Use prompts. Collect all the ones that you prefer, then try each one.
  10. Take a life drawing class.
  11. Visit museums and art galleries.
  12. Change the pace of your drawing; go slower or faster.
  13. Read Danny Gregory‘s book The Creative License.
  14. Watch the documentary The Mystery of Picasso

Thank you for the kind words! Keeping a list helps me a lot; I tend to forget the good ideas I had. I had a chance to look at YOUR work and it is lovely! Thank you for stopping by!

Thanks so much for this lovely line Work. I’ve been looking at zentangles for a while and this is a clear favourite for me. I have had a go at it using A BLACKwing palomino Pencil, to go in the background of one of my illustrations. I’m posting on Instagram and will give You CREDIT. Love your work. 🙂 Bec
