Swatching new art supplies is very satisfying.

With a wide variety of shades ranging from earthy neutrals to vivid brights, this set is a nice addition to your art supply arsenal. In this post, we’re diving into swatching new art supplies and seeing how these acrylic markers perform on brown paper. The paper is actually a piece of brown grocery bag torn to fit into my sketchbook.

First Impressions

The moment I opened the box, I was impressed by the muted tones of the colors. From rich browns and greens to vibrant blues, purples, the collection instantly sparked creative ideas. The heart-shaped swatches I tested allowed me to see the opacity, color vibrancy, and consistency of each marker. Swatching new art supplies like this made me appreciate the range Arrtx offers—and it is always a good go to exercise for when you don’t know what to draw.

Swatching New Art Supplies While Noticing Performance

These markers glide smoothly and lay down opaque color evenly on toned paper. The ink is juicy but dries quickly, making it great for layering. If you enjoy swatching new art supplies, this set will not disappoint. Watching the colors come alive on the page was both relaxing and inspiring.

Watching each color come to life on the page is like unboxing inspiration—and that’s exactly what happened.

In this post, I’m sharing a look at my swatch chart (pictured above) and my honest first impressions of these vibrant acrylic markers on kraft paper.

The Arrtx acrylic markers laid down smooth, juicy color with good coverage—especially considering the kraft paper base. A few lighter tones may need layering, but most swatches delivered rich, opaque color in a single pass.

Performance Highlights:

 • Matte finish when dry—perfect for sketchbooks
 • Consistent ink flow with no streaks
 • Fast drying but allows for layering if you’re patient
 • Great control for detailed work or bold fills

These markers handle beautifully for freehand work, mixed media layering, and quick sketchbook studies.

Color Variety That Pops

This set comes packed with a surprising range of hues, from bright yellows and oranges to rich reds, earthy browns, lush greens, vibrant blues, and dreamy purples. What really impressed me was how bold and opaque most of these colors appear on kraft paper—a surface that often dulls pigment.

Each heart-shaped swatch is labeled with the color code for easy reference—a great help when reaching for the perfect shade mid-project.

Are They Worth It?

For their price point, color range, and versatility, I’d say, yes this set is a solid addition to any creative toolkit. They’re ideal for:

 • Art journaling
 • Mixed media projects
 • Mandalas and lettering
 • Working in Your Sketchbook
 • Adding pops of color or bold backgrounds

If you’re tired of hauling out paints, or cleaning up after yourself, but still want the look of rich acrylic, these markers offer the best of both worlds—paint-like opacity with marker convenience.

Pro Tip for Mixed Media Artists

Swatching on the paper type you plan to use is helpful. It can predict how they will layer with other materials like colored pencils, watercolor, or ink. Toned paper is especially fun; the highlights really pop.

Final Thoughts

Swatching these acrylic markers reminded me why I love testing new supplies. There’s a little thrill in discovering which colors become your new go-to. Having this chart nearby makes color selection effortless for new projects.

The Arrtx Acrylic Marker 60 Set feels like a treasure chest of possibilities. Whether you’re working in a sketchbook, creating greeting cards, or experimenting with mixed media, these markers deliver vibrant, reliable color.

Would I recommend them? Absolutely—especially for artists who just want to add color without the mess of traditional paints.

Would you add this set to your collection?
