Music helps drawing in the form of many benefits.Β One of the things I enjoy doing to get in the zone while I am drawing is listen to music.
Music Helps Drawing Unexpectedly in These Ways:
Listening to music on the radio is problematic:
- Commercials happen more often than music a lot of the time
- The commercials break the momentum of the music and startle me out of the flow state the music had me in
- Finding a station with the type of music I like can be a challenge
The remedy is streaming music.Β I have built a collection of playlists on Tidal and some of them are more than eight hours long.Β The music I love plays continuously in the order I prefer.Β Β The magic of the internet allows you to listen to the playlists I have created if you have Tidal too.Β If you enjoy house music, you might like them.Β Β
I am counting on my choice of playlist to enter a certain mood.Β It can also send me to the zone where drawing is effortless and time stops.Β You can do it too.Β Β Β Β
Ways That Streaming Music Helps Drawing
Music is a powerful tool that can impact our art.Β It can be especially helpful when drawing.Β Incorporating music into your drawing routine can offer several benefits.
-
Boosts creativity and inspiration
Music has the power to stir emotions and ignite imaginations. When you listen to music while you are drawing, it can help inspire new ideas. Music helps drawing when you include decorations for the air (music) in your process while you make beautiful artwork on the paper.
-
Increases focus and productivity
Drawing requires concentration and focus; it can be challenging to stay engaged in any task. Listening to music while drawing can help you stay focused and increase your productivity by providing a pleasant background noise that blocks out distractions. Listening with earbuds, and choosing certain types of music, such as instrumental or house, can help you enter a state of flow where you lose track of time and become fully absorbed in your drawing.
-
Reduces stress and anxiety
Drawing can be a relaxing activity, but it’s not always easy to switch off from the stresses of daily life. Listening to music can help you unwind and reduce feelings of stress and anxiety. In fact, research has shown that music can lower cortisol levels, a hormone associated with stress, and increase the production of dopamine, a feel-good neurotransmitter in the brain.
-
Enhances mood and emotional expression
Music has a profound effect on our emotions and can evoke a wide range of feelings. When you listen to music while you are drawing, it can help you tap into these emotions and express them through your art. Whether you’re drawing something lighthearted and cheerful or something more emotive and introspective, music can help you enter the mood and atmosphere you want to create in.
Incorporating music into your drawing routine can offer a wide range of benefits, from boosting your creativity and productivity to reducing stress and improving your motor skills. So next time you sit down to draw, consider putting on some of your favorite tunes and see how it enhances your experience.
Self Portrait – Incomplete and Yet Finished
Yet another self portrait using the uni-ball vision elite.Β It is a sketchbook drawing; actual size 6″ x 9″.Β It is amazing to see the changes in my face.Β This is another weight loss.
Edit: 2.18.23
Even though I am fascinated with drawing natural hair, and I planned to come back to this drawing, I have since accepted it as complete like it is.Β It’s fine.Β Let’s turn the page.Β

Yep, I’m in love with my headset! It is truly amazing! There are times though, when the sound gets amplified, but I think I may be kicking up the volume by mistake….the sound is quite good otherwise.
I am awestruck at how this portrait is coming along. Each time I think it is really good, then the next time is even better. Can’t wait for the next one.
