Sketchbook Drawing of My Old Phone

My Old Phone: This is an ink sketchbook drawing of my old phone.  It includes collage and reminds me of that summer moment.  The longer I draw, the more information I want to remind me of that day notated on the sketch.  I want the date, the time, the temperature, the type of weather, the kind of media I used and what colors.  I have been known to include quotes, recipes, what was playing in the background and overheard conversations. No Need for a New Phone Yet: An Uber driver recently gave me the business about having such an old phone.  I was planning to get a new one, but since the old one still worked it wasn't a big priority.  Just before I made a down payment for a new one and agreed to an additional $29 a month fee for two years . . .

Pet Portrait

This pet portrait was a commission from a coworker who wanted several pictures on one drawing.  From a design standpoint I thought it was not a good look.  But the customer is always right, so I did it.  I didn't like the final outcome, but he did so that is all that matters I guess.  This is my favorite of the lot. Although the customer was pleased, it is not a piece that I would use as a sample of my best work.  I suppose this is something to consider when you are being commissioned to do something that does not align with your vision.  I think that graphic artists must deal with this issue all the time.  It is exactly why I am not attracted to that industry. My goal is to build a situation where I make what I am inspired to create, . . .
